Honouring CommunityQuest Winners at VTC Skills Fiesta in October
The first “CommunityQuest”, Community Engagement Reward Scheme organised by CEU has announced its winners. The recognition ceremony will take place on 26 October during the VTC Skills Fiesta 2025. You are welcome to join and congratulate the winning student teams, including the following three Merit Award recipients.
The 6th 1-min Public Speaking Contest (2025)
Co-organised by the Business Discipline of the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and the Centre for Fathering of Family Value Foundation of Hong Kong, the contest focused on family-related issues such as students’ mental health, stress management, and family communication, conveying young voices to the community. Apart from allowing parents to hear the perspectives of young people, the IVE students serving as youth organising committee members applied VPET skills learned at VTC, including large-scale event planning and management, public relations and marketing, promotional video production, and social media management.
WishU Fame&Fortune
Addressing the issue of insufficient financial literacy among today’s youth, a student team from the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT), under the coordination of the Student Development Discipline, collaborated with St. James’ Settlement to develop an online game that combines education and entertainment to promote correct values through technology and creativity. The game features scenarios such as job hunting, dating, and stock trading, with over forty storyline routes. Players must avoid various financial traps to win the game.
Gemini powered Global Sign Language Translator
In Hong Kong, the shortage of sign language interpretation resources has long been a concern for people with hearing difficulties. Eight students from the HKIIT Higher Diploma in Cloud and Data Centre Administration and the Youth College Diploma of Vocational Education (Information Technology) developed an AI-powered real-time sign language interpretation system to address this issue. To ensure excellence, the students met with representatives from SLCO Community Resources, a charitable organisation promoting sign language to gather feedback and refine the product.
