Project Name

Upcycling × Popularizing Local Food – Canned Curry Squid

Normally squids are sold in the market after fishermen have finished their catchThe unsold ones are dried and then put on sale again. Dried squids that remain unsold eventually get discarded. Yet, curry squid is one of the most popular local street foods, with a blend of Eastern and Western culinary traditions showcasing Hong Kong's unique food culture. It is, however, only available at street food stalls.

Students, from Food Technology and Safety and Visual Communication, have collaborated to develop a canned curry squid product. This not only allows everyone to enjoy this popular local street food anytime anywhere and promotes Hong Kong's food culture, but also provides an innovative solution to reduce food waste.
